mdgirlie: Where is the Southern Maryland fun?
What is there to do around here for young people? Absolutely nothing. I have lived here since I was born. I did live in Ohio for 5 years because of college... and sad to say that there was lots of fun stuff to do out there than around here. The bars are old, and filled with rift-raff. Don't get me wrong, but this is such a nice place to live, but no sense of community. My boyfriend of 4 years and native of Ohio, recently moved here and thinks that its a nice quiet and pretty area, but without life. His idea of fun is not the St. Mary's County Fair. Where are the go-kart races? Why do I have to drive 45 minutes to get to access 50+ stores. Gas isn't cheap now-a-days. I am very curious to see what the county commisioner has to say about the increase of violence by young people because of no activites.

Yeah, you have to search through Parks & Rec, CSM, St.Mary's College (which is still far for most people) for clubs, sports and activities, but that doesn't help for spontaneous fun. Calvert has some nice parks and beaches, like Calvert Cliffs, Anne Marie Gardens, Solomon's Island.
One of my friends used to drive down from Frederick to race her dirt bike at Budd's Creek. I was amused to find someone who drove from past the DC area to St.Mary's to seek entertainment.

Anne Marie Gardens is one of my favourite places! I also love Calvert Cliffs. Greenwell State Park is nice too, and Sotterly.
